Traditional Rwanda Peace Basket

Traditional Rwanda Peace Basket
This traditional mini "peace basket" gets its name because it is handmade by women from both Rwandan tribes, the Hutus and Tutsis, who sit together while weaving.

Most of these women must support their families because their husbands are in jail for crimes committed during the genocide.

Making peace baskets helps the women financially while also providing a dialogue between people of the two tribes. Purchasing these baskets helps strengthen the very core of Rwandan community through forgiveness and reconciliation.

I love this peace basket with the
rosary of the seven sorrows. I want
to give this peace basket to some
friends but I wish you could include
the history of the peace basket. I would like vedry much to give it to my parish priest, Fr. Boniface, who met you in Washington during one of your talks.
    Sincerely,
    Mary
